Protect your SIM card with a PIN
You can protect your SIM card from unauthorized use by assigning a PIN (personal
identification number). The default SIM card PIN is provided by your wireless
service provider.
To enable the SIM card PIN
- Tap Start > Settings > Personal tab >
Phone > GSM/UMTS Services tab.
- Select PIN/PIN2 on the list of available services, then
tap Get Settings.
- Select the Require PIN when phone is used check box.
- Enter the PIN number and then tap OK. To change the PIN
at any time, tap Change PIN.
Tip: Emergency calls can be placed at any time, without requiring
a PIN.
To change the SIM card PIN
- Tap Start > Settings > Personal tab >
Phone > GSM/UMTS Services tab.
- Select PIN/PIN2 on the list of available services, then
tap Get Settings.
- Tap Change PIN.
- Enter the SIM PIN, then tap OK.
- Enter the old SIM PIN, then enter the new SIM PIN in the New PIN
and Confirm new PIN fields.
- Tap OK.
